Northern Canada to Alaska experiences a tundra climate. In this region, permafrost (frozen soil) prevents trees from growing but some small bushes and lichens are able to survive.
Northwestern U.S
Towards the Northwestern area of the U.S, there is a marine west coast climate. This climate type is influenced by mountains. The temperature is moderate, but the rainfall in this area is great. Large thick forests are in this region.
Southeastern U.S
Once you move more South towards the East coast, a humid subtropical climate is prominent,
Southwestern U.S
Down Southwest many will immediately notice the dry climate. This region is Arid. Many parts of this area are dessert or steppe. In this section of the U.S, there are no definite seasons.
Central Canada
Around Central Canada one will notice a subarctic climate. An area like this will have Evergreen trees, conifers, in forests often called taigas. One will experience 2 seasons, a long harsh winter and a short mild summer.
Great Plains and Northeastern U.S
Moving East towards the Great Plains and New England one will notice a more humid continental climate. In this region there are four distinct seasons. Each season has precipitation.There are a variety of vegetation types allowing an abundant of animal species to survive.
Hawaii
Tropical Rainforests are in this area. This region is also known as a tropical wet/dry climate. There is a wet and a dry season. Areas in this climate zone can have incredible amounts of rainfall.
