The Basin and Range, better known as the Great Basin, is located west of the Rocky Mountains. It is was created millions of years ago when the Earth surface shifted. The Great Basin is simply a continual pattern of a basin and then a range again and again. The basins and ranges sit nearly parallel to each other. Climate in this region is arid and vegetation is based upon vertical zonation.
Basin:A depression in the Earth's surface Fault:A fracture in the Earth along which one side has moved in relative to the other. |
